FORMULA TUTORING

Jonny has been no less than a life-saver when it came to my physics upper division Waves and Optics class. I started this class and realized that I was completely out of my depth with the subject material. After a few unproductive sessions with other tutors, I found Jonny's profile and contacted him. He responded within a couple of hours, and we got down to business. 

Over the course of a semester, Jonny and I met four evenings a week to discuss the current assignment and to help me complete it. Jonny always worked at my speed, never hesitating to go back and explain the most recent material we had just covered (3 times over, sometimes) and would provide step-by-step detailed explanations of what we were doing and why we were doing it. He also provided additional, relevant information during our sessions that he (correctly) thought could be useful to better my understanding of the material, while at the same time avoiding going off on unproductive tangents. Jonny also provided great exam review sessions. Based on little more than a vague formula sheet provided by my professor, we would go through each equation together. We would discuss the mathematical form of each equation, including how to manipulate them and what general solutions should look like, we also discussed the physical implications of each equation and tied them back into the general concepts they were based upon. Additionally, Jonny knows how to play the game of undergraduate examinations, giving me many tips on what to expect on exams in general, and what knowledge I should prioritize. Over the course of my time working with Jonny, I went from not being able to complete virtually any of the homework on my own and scoring a 39 on the first exam, to confidently completing each and every homework in a timely fashion, and snagging a B+ average following the comprehensive final exam. I would also like to add that Jonny would proofread my weekly lab reports on his own time and provide extra feedback before the assigned due date.

In addition to being very knowledgeable on the subject matter, Jonny conducted his tutoring services in a very professional way. In the event of a sudden time complication, Jonny would notify me by text or email immediately, and we would work out together how to alter our weekly sessions to account for that. He was also very willing to make last-minute schedule adjustments in order to work most effectively with me.

I am adamant that I would not be where I am today without Jonny's continued help, so I cannot recommend him enough as a physics or math tutor.
